We have already had two baptisms this year, one in February and another in April.
Living so close to a beautiful beach it is the perfect opportunity to witness our faith to the community as they walk along the promenade wondering what we are doing on the beach in less than the warm and inviting weather Gorleston is known for in the summer.
Amber's Baptism
Sunday 16th February was rather breezy with the sea temperature warmer than the air temperature, but Amber, Derek and Gary all wore wetsuits. The confessions of faith took place on the beach before heading into the sea to await a wave followed by a quick exit to dry off.
Following hot refreshments and cake before a service back at the school Amber gave her testimony of her journey of faith to this point. She was presented with a journalling bible from the church, with had the verse Titus 3:4-5 in the front cover and Gary prayed for her. The following week Amber spoke to us and showed us some photos of her trip to Lesotho which is part of her second year with Rock UK.
Edima's Baptism
Sunday 6th April was a bright sunny, but very windy day as a large crowd gathered on Gorleston beach. Edima, Anthony and Derek all wore wetsuits to brave the choppy North Sea after the confessions of faith had taken place on the beach. Anthony had the privilege of baptising his daughter, Edima, who had already been knocked over by incoming waves.
Once dry and back at the school, we warmed up with hot refreshments and cake. During the service Edima was presented with a youth bible from the church, which had the verses Philippians 3:13-14 printed in the front cover, and we prayed for her.
