Churches Together discovered both churches were looking at the same area, but neither was strong enough to do it on their own, so it was decided to go ahead together.
On a trip with the Port Chaplain, Peter Payne, to take Christmas gifts out to the platforms, Judy Harvey from St. Andrews and John McCabe from GBC met and discovered both their churches had the same vision and were looking to plant a church in the same area.
December 1998 St. Andrews PCC agreed to go ahead with the idea of a church plant. January 1999 GBC Church Meeting agreed to a joint plant
Each church asked for 15 people willing to undertake this planting and on February 1st both groups met together for their first meeting and met monthly for prayer, worship and preparation.
September 1999 the team started meeting in Cliff Park Middle School for services in a classroom and on December 12th Cliff Park Community Church was launched.
January 2001 the morning service was broadcast on BBC Radio Norfolk.
